Membership Classification


FPAS membership consists of companies and individuals who practise within or support the financial planning profession. As a professional association, FPAS will require its members to abide by a code of ethics and professional standards. FPAS will instigate a formal complaints, review, and disciplinary system to ensure compliance, and thereby instill public confidence in its members.

There are five categories of FPAS membership:

Charter Membership

Charter Membership is open to companies that support the development of the financial planning industry.

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM, CFPCM Membership

The CFPCM certification is reserved for those professionals who have demonstrated technical competency by completing a CFPCM educational program provided by an approved FPAS education provider. These individuals must also pass FPAS certification examinations and have three years' relevant experience and abide by the Code of Ethics. The CFPCM certification designation is an internationally recognised service mark and is a symbol of the highest level of professionalism for financial planning practitioners. Annual fee is S$230.00.

Associate Wealth Planner (AWPCM) Membership

AWPCM is a mid-level professional certification for practitioners with key portfolios in retirement planning and wealth accumulation in addition to their capability to recommend general financial planning strategies. These individuals must also pass FPAS certification examinations Module 1, 4 and 5 (Foundations in Financial Planning, Investment Planning and Retirement Planning respectively) and abide by the Code of Ethics. Annual fee is S$100.00.

Associate Financial Planner (AFPCM) Membership

AFPCM is a certification for practitioners who are competent to recommend general financial planning strategies and to advice on the appropriate selection and use of various financial planning products for individuals. These individuals must also pass FPAS certification examinations Module 1 (Foundations in Financial Planning) and abide by the Code of Ethics. Annual fee is S$100.00.

Student membership

Student membership is available to those undertaking the AFPCM, AWPCM and CFPCM educational program provided by approved FPAS educational providers. Annual fee is S$85.00.

Completed membership applications should be made on FPAS Individual Membership Application Forms submitted with cheques made payable to "Financial Planning Association of Singapore", to any of the approved education providers together with course enrolment applications.

CFPCM, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM, and are certification marks owned outside the U.S. by Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. Financial Planning Association of Singapore is the marks licensing authority for the CFP marks in Singapore, through agreement with FPSB.
